About me
I've always had a passion for the written word, both as a reader and writer. My first creative writing piece to be published was a story entitled "What Christmas Means to Me", published in the school newsletter at the age of seven, followed by many more stories, poems and articles in various school publications during her primary and secondary education.
As a Primary School teacher for almost four decades, I shared that passion with my students. Most rewarding were those lightbulb moments when letters and words finally began to take on meaning. My aim for my young students was to help them see themselves as successful readers and writers. Encouraging them as they actively and enthusiastically engaged in daily reading and writing activities was highly satisfying. During my career, I had the opportunity to write many stories, poems, songs, plays and musicals to educate and entertain my students.
Now retired, I suddenly found time to make writing a greater priority. I recently completed my first novel, intended for an adult audience in the Biblical/Historical fiction genre. This has been an exciting new adventure and steep learning curve! And now I'm working on a second book in the series. I will share more of my writing journey soon.
I enjoy spending time with my daughter and son, their spouses, and my five grandsons. Other interests include reading (of course!), baking and singing. I love travelling with my husband, Greg, and capturing the beauty of the world around me in photos. From time to time, you will see my shots of sunrises, sunsets, landscapes of my travels, and glimpses of wildlife.
My husband and I are active members of Calderwood Valley Baptist Church, and we're thankful for opportunities to serve God and our church family.
